APAC Finance Assistant, Hong Kong based

Systech International is seeking a Finance Assistant to be responsible for supporting the Senior Accountant in Hong Kong in the day-to-day running of sales and purchase ledgers, including data entry to SUN; preparation of International statutory financial statements including balance sheet statement, cash flows, explanatory footnotes and other supporting and supplemental schedules and exhibits for each account submission.

Success in this role depends on compliance with the monthly, quarterly and annual closing and audit timetable, issued by the Group Finance Director.

Finance Essential Duties include Statutory Accounting and Reporting – Supporting the Senior Accountant, Hong Kong:

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual accounts and reports, including revenue, overheads, other provisions and costs for all subsidiaries in the APAC region;
  • Preparation of all aspect of quarterly and annual statements including all supporting schedules, and including the necessary accounting for Sales and VAT taxation types, e.g. Australia.
  • Support Systech advisors in the preparation of monthly or quarterly tax returns;
  • Assistance with regional annual audits, with ability to answer queries effectively.

Day-to-Day Finance Activities:

  • APAC Bank Account download, sending payment instructions to London re: mid-month suppliers;
  • Prepare financials for tax return submissions: for example: Australia;
  • Maintain Sales Ledger, booking invoices & receipts daily, allocating the balances to maintain a clean ledger;
  • Maintain Purchase Ledger, booking invoices & payments daily, allocating the balances to maintain a clean ledger;
  • Reconcile, prepare and post intercompany transactions to the system, monthly and part of month end closing routine, reconciling monthly;
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, escalating any issues to the Senior Accountant;
  • Check monthly billing register that is provided from Singapore and book monthly sales to the system, distributing invoices to Clients, and liaising with APAC Consultants to ensure timely and accurate timesheet and expense submissions;
  • Assisting with the management of static data in the SUN General Ledger and Time@Work billing system, for: Clients / Employees / Projects;
  • Check monthly salary report that is provided from Singapore and book salary costs to the system. Produce schedule of total payroll requirements for cash-flow purposes;
  • Post Consultant expenses and overtime to the system monthly, following check and authorisation from the Senior Accountant;
  • Gross Margin analysis and review, monthly;
  • Maintain Schedule of Prepayments;
  • Maintain Schedule of Accruals;
  • Maintain Schedule of Depreciation;
  • Post monthly petty cash accounts to the system;
  • Ensure all paperwork is accurately filed in both hard & soft copy format;
  • Ensure regular & accurate archiving is completed to ensure effective relocating of aged documents as and when required.


Works under the general supervision of the Senior Accountant. This position does not supervise other personnel.

Job Qualifications / Competencies:

  • Analysis and Reporting.
  • Communication and Presentation.
  • Information and Technology Proficiency – experience in SUN and Time@Work an advantage.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experienced using Outlook e-mail.

Work Experience:

  • 4 years progressive experience in this Accounts.
  • Experience must include completing all components of statutory reporting for an international company.
  • Experience researching and resolving complex issues.


  • Part-qualified or currently studying to become a qualified accountant.

Other Work Demands:

  • Regular and on-time attendance.
  • Hours regularly exceed 45 hours per week and at weekends. The remuneration package will include overtime work.
  • Occasional travel by to other locations as and when required.
