Aims of the course:

A joint seminar with the Energy Industry Council and Ince & Co.

The new UK Bribery Act is due to be put into force in mid 2011 and this seminar has been designed to help members understand what they need to do and how they can prepare for the introduction of the new legislation.

Topics covered:

    Bribery is of course already illegal but there have been a few successful prosecutions and there is a strong drive particularly by the US, UK and other governments to clamp down on corruption.  As well as updating the law it will become easier to obtain a prosecution.  Even before the Act comes into force however there has been an increase in enforcement of the existing law where several significant companies have had personnel arrested and multimillion fines imposed.
