Great news for Spelthorne Gymnastics Club

August 11, 2015

Bob Cooper has received great news – the Spelthorne Gymnastics Club has been given a new lease for 14 months by the developer, Inland Homes ( ), which is buying the land off the existing landlord.  Inland Homes, which was unaware of the club’s predicament,  has also contributed £50k towards the new gym and has offered to help, where it can, in its construction. So far £1.6m has been raised and the documents are out to tender to get a price for the new project which is budgeted at around £2m.  The new lease will allow time to fundraise and build a new gym at another school site for the club to move to.

Stephen Wicks, Chief Executive of Inland Homes, said:

“We are delighted to be able to help.  It is clear how loved and valued the gym is by the local community and we want it to continue providing the training ground for British and World Champions long into the future”.

As the developers of the Brooklands College site, it is our responsibility to ensure that the local area has a sustainable, long-term future and by saving the gym from closure we hope to have done that.”
