Singapore Hubbing

Kevin Timmons, Regional Director South East Asia, shares his thoughts on Systech’s expansion and development in Singapore as it celebrates its 50th birthday as a nation.

Singapore has seen amazing development over the last 200 years from swampy mangrove, to colonial outpost to first world economic power house. It is the envy of many countries around the world.

With a landmass only twice the size of the Isle of Wight (a quarter of its mass being reclaimed from the sea) and no natural resources, Singapore has worked hard to utilise its only tangible natural advantage – geographical location – to stay relevant and ahead of the game in a fast evolving world. Most of Singapore’s extraordinary development has been made since independence from the UK in 1965 under the strong leadership of former Prime Minister Lee Kwan Yew, who died in March. Singapore celebrates 50 years as a nation this year.
