Systech International in Canada

November 07, 2012

The expanding opportunities in Canada, particularly in the infrastructure, energy, oil and gas and PPP sectors, has led to the opening of an office in Toronto and the appointment of an in-country Head of Operations.

Group Managing Director Mark Woodward-Smith, who is overseeing our move into Canada, says

“The public/private investment in infrastructure and the oil sands expansion has resulted in tremendous growth in the Canadian construction market and we are being asked to support our clients with their projects. I have seen evidence of this growth during my recent visits to the country and we are pleased to be working in Canada with some of Europe’s largest contractors.

Our operations in Canada are being managed by Craig Silcock, our President for the Americas, and supported by myself on a visiting basis.

We have recently appointed Steve Wells as our Head of Operations for Canada. Steve is based in Toronto and has been a resident of Canada since 2008.  Having headed up smaller commercial businesses in the UK, which he helped to establish and lead for 11 years, Steve is ideally placed to take responsibility for the Canada-wide operations of the company's business and its continued development.

Steve has over 30 years experience in the construction industry and has worked with a wide spectrum of clients ranging from specialist sub-contractors, lead contractors, consultants, developers and owners.  He is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario. Steve has undertaken commercial management, contract administration, claims management and dispute resolution roles in a range of sectors including construction, M&E, process/pharmaceuticals and oil and gas.

I am very excited by the opportunities that Canada offers Systech and indeed those individuals within the business who wish to work there”.
