Systech International Triathlon Team Support Tiny Steps Charity

November 06, 2014

Systech has sponsored 6 relay teams which are taking part in the Dubai International Triathlon (DIT) on 7 November.  The aim is to raise awareness and funds for the Tiny Steps Charity which is organised by friends of Steven Holman, a senior consultant in our Abu Dhabi office.

18 kind souls have volunteered to take part in this great cause including Steven as well as our Simon Chandler, Tom Allen and Paul Williams.

The race starts [at 07.00] and finishes [approximately 13.30]at the Aquaventure Park next to Atlantis on the Palm; this is where the 1.9 km swim and 21km run take place, whilst the 90km bike route heads off the Palm to Motor City.

If you are based in UAE please come along to cheer them on!

Steven’s friends daughter Connie, who is now aged 4, spent the first 2 weeks of her life in intensive care and at the age of 8 weeks was diagnosed with West Syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy. 8 months later Connie underwent a hip operation, which led to a prolonged seizure and ended up in a plaster cast from chest to toe. Despite this Connie has amazed everyone with her developments.

Since the beginning of this journey it has been impossible for Connie's parents to meet people with the same experience or find facilities that are suitable for children with similar conditions. The aim of Tiny Steps is to create such a facility which will include a sensory room and a soft play area. Most importantly it will provide a meeting point for families where they can get together, exchange experiences and provide help for each other.

Tiny Steps has received a lot of help from friends and family who have organised numerous charity runs, football matches and events. Now we want to support Tiny Steps from the UAE and the aim is to spread the word and raise as much awareness as possible. DIT has already agreed to give half of our entry fees to Tiny Steps and Systech provided support by paying for the custom made kits [see attached].
