Systech International Strengthens Management Team

February 28, 2012

In a move to create a platform for further growth, Systech International has strengthened and expanded its management team in the UK and Mainland Europe.

Geoff Lane, who has been with Systech since 1995, has been made a Regional Director and will take responsibility for activities in France where a key aspect of his role will be to develop Paris as a hub for work in Mainland Europe and establish it as a centre of expertise which can be used across the continent.

Paul Checketts, who also joined Systech in 1995, has relocated from Paris to Manchester from where he will use his expertise on global power projects to spearhead our growth in this rapidly expanding sector. Paul has previously worked with many of the major Asian and European power contractors and he is familiar with the particular requirements of EPC contracts and other contacting methods they commonly use.

Richard Morris, the immediate past Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Board of Management, will take up the lead role for our expert services in the UK and Mainland Europe. Since joining Systech in 2008 Richard has carried out regular speaking and lecturing engagements and his new position will see him expanding this involvement.

Glen Loftus, takes over from Richard as Head of Disputes. Glen, who joined Systech in early 2010, will take responsibility for leading our strong claims and disputes team, a role that will see him providing strategic advice to our clients and taking an overview on our dispute appointments.

Rebecca Redhead, who has worked for the business for over 10 years in the UK, Mainland Europe, the Middle East and Asia [where she was part of our in- house team based at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries premises in Yokohama, Japan], has been appointed as an Associate Director and she will take over the running of our commissions with MHI in Holland.

Other changes will see Regional Managing Director’s Bob Chapman and Simon Chew take responsibility for key clients in Mainland Europe.

In addition to the existing staff changes outlined above Systech has appointed Ian Sisley as Associate responsible for France. Ian is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with cost engineering, estimating, claims and contractual disputes experience gained over a 30 year period in the UK, Western Europe, North Africa, Middle East, Far East and Oceania. He has gained extensive knowledge of the French language and culture over his professional lifespan much of it having been spent on projects within the country or on French managed construction sites elsewhere.

This experience has been gained across a variety of sectors including building construction, civil engineering, power, oil and gas, airport, pharmaceutical and FM. He has also held a number of positions within the RICS.

Ian is multi-lingual being fluent in English and French, having an understanding of Dutch and Indonesian as well as some Spanish, German and Norwegian.

Ian will work closely with Geoff Lane to develop opportunities in France and other Francophile countries.

Group Managing Director Mark Woodward-Smith says;

“Despite the difficult economic conditions prevailing in the UK and Mainland Europe we set ourselves some very tough growth targets last year and I am delighted to report that we are on programme to meet them. We work extremely closely with our clients and the changes we have made will enable us to offer them a better and more co-ordinated service whilst making best use of the expertise and experience we have within the business. We are currently reviewing other parts of the business and anticipate that this will lead to further senior management opportunities in March”.
