OFFSHORE WIND FARM - IRISH SEA

Offshore Wind Farm - Irish Sea

Systech International is currently working on the construction of an offshore farm in the Irish Sea consisting of 106 1.6MW turbines [each with a rotor diameter of 120m] which when complete in 2014 will be one of the largest offshore wind farms in the world. The farm will provide sufficient annual power for 300,000 households.

Our client, who was responsible for sections of the onshore works, originally required a high level overview and risk analysis of the contract documentation. We then advised and supported our clients commercial management team during the on-site works with a focus on securing the additional entitlements to cost and time as well as compiling a retrospective claim for a major design change.

Our contracts management skills – aligned to significant civil engineering, power transmission and M&E expertise – were on particular benefit to our client and we took a proactive change control role, drafted contractual correspondence, managed the commercial interfaces with other suppliers and maintained records. We also co-ordinated the commercial aspects of the design and advised on a strategy to deliver the contract milestones.
