Role

  • To evaluate the Reliability and Safety of systems and products and the compliance with applicable national and international standards.
  • Developing developing RAM and Safety deliverables, such as RAM and Safety Plans, RAM Prediction model and Assessment, Hardware and Software Safety Analyses and Safety & Security Checklists, Hazards Log and RAM Monitoring plan / reports.
  • To provide feedback to the RAMS Manager, Work Package Lead (WPL) and project team during all program phases in order to support the design, development and certification of systems / sub-systems / products.
  • To coordinate and consolidate the RAMS inputs / contribution from different entities (suppliers, vendors, stakeholders).
  • To collaborate with the RAMS Manager and Work Package Leads (WPL), to ensure the provision of schedule and cost progress of RAM & Safety documentation and plan sufficient time for reviews to guarantee their delivery, in compliance with RAMS and quality standards.
  • To ensure correct identification and apportionment of RAMS requirements and guarantee their verification and integration into the applications and overall design, by assisting / collaborating with cross-functional teams, including design, quality and production.
  • To independently validate the safety-related functions by supporting the Safety governance on V&V, by providing technical reviews of test and V&V plans / test and V&V reports, and by witnessing RAMS field tests.
  • To participate in technical meetings and reviews, including design reviews and readiness reviews.
  • As Safety Work Package Leads (WPL), to support the RAMS Manager in coordinating and ensuring execution of RAM and Safety activities on the project / system / product, as defined from the tender phase up to Operational phase, within budget allocation.
  • To support tenders by providing preliminary RAM and Safety Plan, resource allocations and deliverables list.
  • To anticipate and alert the RAMS Manager on potential blocking issues with regard to the expectations of the project / system / product milestones and be pro-active in the definition / implementation of the related resolution plan.
  • To act as an independent reviewer for safety related documentation and clearly identify non-compliances.
  • To act as a mentor for RAMS engineers by reviewing their work and conducting training in RAM and Safety activities.
  • To develop, improve and implement RAM and Safety related processes.
  • To organize workshop to familiarize other engineering department on the role of the RAMS group and impact on the project / system / product.
  • To support the management of / interface with Independent Safety Assessor, Client and other external Authorities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Must have a good safety background with knowledge of RAM and Safety techniques, such as Reliability Block Diagram (RBD), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Preliminary
  • Hazard Analysis (PHA), System / Sub-System Hazard Analysis (SHA / SSHA), Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Operating & Support Hazard
  • Analysis (O&SHA), Hazards Log, Safety Cases, Safety and Security Checklists.
  • Good technical knowledge of system integration and railways & signalling technology, including rolling stock.
  • Good knowledge of RAM and Safety requirements apportionment techniques and requirements management.
  • Good knowledge of project / system lifecycle (V-Cycle).
  • Good knowledge of Operation and Maintenance (O&M) and trial run basic principles.
  • Good knowledge of budget management & cost controlling and planning.
  • Good knowledge of quality management.
  • Good knowledge of Design Criteria Conformance Checklist (DCCC), Construction Specification Conformance Checklist (CSCC) and Certificate of Conformance (CoC) process and development.
  • Good knowledge of Spare parts modeling (Poisson Distribution).
  • Good knowledge of International and National Standards including - CENELEC Standards (EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129), U.S. Military Standards / Handbooks (MIL-STD-882E, MIL-HDBK-217F), AREMA Standards, U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) | Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Standards / Handbooks (DOT-FTA MA-90-5006-02-01).
