Role

Systech have several exciting opportunities available to Planning Consultants who are interested in relocating to Australia. The role will be based in either our Sydney or Melbourne offices with regional travel occasionally required.

As a Planning Consultant, you will be responsible for preparing programmes at all stages of a project – from bid, to on-site progress to retrospective forensic for use in disputes.

You will advise on how to prepare contract compliant programmes, report progress on as-built programmes, manage critical path and float activities and the records to keep in case a claim situation arises.

This is a consultancy role and you must therefore be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively in a client facing environment.

Responsibilities

  • To take responsibility for the delivery of professional assignments
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with the contract requirements
  • Maintaining project records, establishing project schedules and budgets and ensuring engineering standards of quality, cost and safety are observed
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with the client requirements
  • Knowledge of all project planning techniques
  • Determining and monitoring engineering strategies, policies and plans
  • Supporting senior team members on key major projects
  • Understanding change management including variations/compensation events
  • Supporting major claims and knowledge of dispute resolution under guidance and contribute to research and development projects where necessary
  • Project schedule management from bid stage through to project completion

Individual

  • Must be degree qualified in a construction related field with a minimum 3 years’ experience in Construction Planning working on infrastructure or building projects
  • Have contractor experience working in UK construction
  • A sound understanding of current construction methodologies
  • Knowledge of current project planning techniques
  • Good knowledge of contract conditions and law within the construction industry – Along with a good understanding of the majority of Australian Standard forms of contract (Providing examples of work)
  • Good working knowledge of a variety of planning software (e.g. P6, Powerproject)
  • Strong oral/written communication and presentation skills; An excellent organiser with proven time management skills
  • Presentable and articulate
  • An interest in claims and disputes with experience preferred
  • Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, Australian Visa or UK passport holders preferred (Preferable for foreign worker visa requirements)
  • Able to work independently, advising key clients on scheduling matters, project controls, workaround and recovery plans, construction phasing and means/methods
  • Ability to construct schedules from first principles and interrogate project data
