Construction Planner – Canada

We are actively recruiting for qualified Quantity Surveyors, Planners and Commercial Managers in Canada specifically Montreal, Toronto and Calgary. The successful individuals will spend some time in a Systech regional office, gaining an understanding of the business before moving into the Canadian operation. Ideally you will be UK trained with experience with a main contractor.

Individuals who have an existing knowledge of the Canadian market and/or a valid work permit/visa to work in Canada would be of interest.

Systech offer opportunities to support on major claims and dispute resolution projects.

Whilst ideally you will hold a degree in a construction related field it is more important to have a minimum 3 years’ experience in construction planning.

The role holder will usually be expected to hold a professional accreditation (Member status or higher) to at least one acknowledged body (e.g. CIOB, APM, ICE) or be working towards it.

Responsibilities:
  • To take responsibility for the delivery of professional assignments
  • Supporting Senior team members on key major projects
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with the contract requirements
  • Knowledge of current project planning techniques
  • Maintenance of project records
  • Understanding Change Management including variations /compensation events
  • A sound working knowledge of various standard forms of contracts including NEC and JCT
  • Supporting major claims and knowledge of dispute resolution under guidance where necessary
Individual:
  • Member of an accredited professional body
  • A sound understanding of current construction methodologies
  • Good working knowledge of a variety of planning software (e.g. P6, Powerproject)
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Presentable and articulate
  • Excellent organiser with proven time management skills
